Tailored Menus

(for those who prefer to creat their own adventure!!)

Each option can be chosen to tailor the perfect trip for you to make yours memorable. Put one or two together or mix and match several, from any of the menus. Eg. You may want one or two from the adventure menu mixed together with some from the "Bush Craft" menu. These options can be presented as a half day, full day or multi-day. Half day programs may be limited in what we can offer due to time restrictions, although we will endeavor to accommodate.

ADVENTURE SUMMER

Program Description Selection
Nature Ramble An easy short ramble through interesting eco-systems
to spend time looking at flowers, bird spotting,
animal signs, water systems and who knows what else we’ll discover.
 
Hike A route on easy, moderate or challenging
terrain (you choose) to explore the pristine mountain scenery. For the more
adventurous,we offer the highest hiking route in the Canadian Rockies!
 
Tracking Skills Learn the basics of tracking. Start by exploring
your own tracks and amaze yourself at what you can learn! Then we
look for animal tracks and build on what we’ve already discovered.
 
Map, Compass
and GPS
The cost in Search and Rescue not to mention the danger to human life
in the rockies is totally preventable. We offer a hands on session of learning
to read your map, use a compass and understand and use your GPS.
 
Canyon Walk Explore the pictographs of Grotto Canyon and hear the Native side of
the story about why the pictographs are there, who might have left
them, but more importantly who did not leave them!
 
Cave and canyon
(full day only)
This is a full day exploring Grotto Canyon and Rats Nest Cave. The caving
takes you through an amazing cave system of passages etched and
sculpted thousands of years ago by running glacier water
 



ADVENTURE WINTER

Program Description Selection
Snowshoeing The historic Canadian form of traveling by snowshoe takes us through
pristine mountain scenery. The skills are easy to learn, and
the pace is relaxed. We use traditional equipment.
 
Dog Sledding Dog Sledding is hands on! You will have the opportunity to put the dogs into
their harnesses and attach them onto the sled. Then take an exhilarating
ride on the sleds while enjoying the amazing views of the Mountains!
 
Cross Country
Skiing
A lesson for the morning will help you to feel at ease before your
guide takes you on a tour – at your pace – on easy terrain to view
some of the most stunning snow capped mountains in the world.
 
Night Walk Step out of your hotel into a night time Winter Wonderland with your
knowledgeable guide. In most cities the stars are "invisible", come see the night sky
as you’ve never seen it before. Listen to the Native Lore on cosmology!

Program Description Selection
Fire Lighting Learn both traditional as well as modern methods of fire lighting.
Different fire types and the best way to build a fire for
keeping you warm (it's not what you think!)
 
Shelter In summer and winter (winter survival) we use shelter
construction techniques using trees and tarps.
In winter we also use various snow shelters.
 
Medicines The plants in this area are plentiful and each one is unique in how it can
help us by giving us food and medicine. Come learn some of the
secrets shared by your guide learned from a Native Medicine Woman.
 
Signalling How to attract attention when you really need it! As just a small person in a
big forest, if you need to signal an airplane, how will you know if they actually see you?
We’ll show you, but bring a note book, there’s a lot to show!
 
Rope Making Need string or a rope but don't have it? We'll show you how to make it,
and make it strong! These ropes and strings can have many uses and
the technology is right in your hands!
 
Tool Making An amazing array of tools and their uses
from using a knife to cut wood to making your
own bush saw, back pack and so much more!
 
Traditional Navigation No compass or GPS? Learn how our fore fathers
used to navigate using a sun compass,
sun stick and a few other useful tools.

Our half day programs are truly a half day! Be prepared to spend at least four hours with your guide, this trip is for those wanting a quality trip. However, we are prepared to accommodate those who are in a rush needing to get onto another activity later in the day.
