"Walking in a winter wonderland" Mahikan Trails is proud to have been one of a group of companies selected across Canada in April 2003 to have taken part in brainstorming "Winter Change" with the Canadian Tourism Commission to promote Winter Tourism in Canada in the Yukon.
Allow us to help you to plan your perfect winter trip with a unique twist:
| Imagine: Traditional (or modern) snow shoes, snow capped mountains, copious amounts of deep powdered snow, a camp fire lunch and a 360 degree panorama of breathtaking scenery! A great family activity as we meander through the silent forest following tracks of coyote, lynx, cougar, snow shoe hare and signs of other animals! What makes this different is you may choose our Aboriginal guide for the perfect authentic experience of this Heritage sport! |
Half Day: $69 + GST (Corporate and Family Rates available) Includes snack & drinks. Full Day: $124 + GST (Corporate and Family Rates available) Includes lunch, snack & drinks. |
|
| Our focus is to get our guests to feel comfortable on their skis and ensuring they have the required technique before we head out on our tour on set tracks in a pristine setting with a "back country" feel. No intimidating crowds, just the sound of the snow as your skis glide effortlessly across it and an abundance of photo opportunities. Your guide is a certified ski instructor through the Canadian Association of Nordic Ski Instructors. |
Half Day: $75 + GST (Includes all ski equipment) Includes snack & drinks. Full Day: $140 + GST (Includes all ski equipment) Includes lunch, snack & drinks. |
Ask us about our combi-program. A morning of snow shoeing, a campfire lunch and then off in the afternoon to enjoy the excellent trails on cross country skis! |
Mahikan Trails is thrilled to partner with Mad Dogs & Englishmen, the most exclusive Dog Sledding company in the Bow Valley. With a wealth of experience in running multi day adventure programs for the British Army to taking part in the World Championship Ski-Jor Race in Fairbanks Alaska, Mad Dogs will give you an experience from a truly professional company. Like Mahikan Trails, Mad Dogs shies away from giving their clients the "Fast Food" style of guiding and instead focuses on quality programs to ensure each person walks away having the experience of a lifetime! |

The trip takes you back to the days of the early European explorers who learned from their Metis (Native) Guides how to live in this Winter Wonderland! Your friendly guide will impart fascinating stories from the history of this area as well as leading you on a journey of discovery by showing you some medicinal qualities of the local plants. You will be able to drink some tea made from the surrounding forest that the guides have gathered in the summer months. A lunch awaits you at an igloo, with a friendly guide to seat you inside, or perhaps you prefer a sun-warmed snow wall! |
